New York obviously is the country's most walkable city but many might be surprised to see Miami come in fifth, according to Redfin's latest Walk Score study.

The Magic City's score of 7.8 improved by 2.6 points from a year ago, ranking behind New York, San Francisco, Boston and Philly among cities with a population of over 300,000.

With the growth and development of Downtown Miami, Wynwood, Little Haiti, and Midtown, to name a few neighborhoods, it's a positive trend to see and one we hope continues to grow moving forward.

Miami actually came in fifth last year as well.

Methodology: "To calculate the rankings, Walk Score analyzed more than 10million locations and computed more than 2 billion walking routes for 2,500 U.S. cities. Walk Score ranking uses the Street Smart Score algotithm that incorporates walking routes, the number of nearby (e.g. restaurants, coffee shops and grocery stores), respective distance to those amenities, pedestrian friendliness, populationand neighborhood boundary data."
