The Chateau Group is rethinking its plans for two sites in downtown Miami.

The developer originally planned to develop the properties at 600 and 700 Biscayne into separate projects, but an unnamed executive told The Next Miami that after considering nearby projects and alternative options, Chateau will combine the sites into a mixed-use development.

Both received approvals for their major use special permits in 2005 before Chateau acquired the land. The properties are next to Miami Worldcenter and near All Aboard Florida’s MiamiCentral project.

Luis Revuelta designed the original plans for controversially named Freedom Square, a 62-story, 650-foot tower that would wrap around the Freedom Tower at 600 Biscayne Boulevard. It would have 685 condo units, 835 parking spaces, restaurant and museum space. Approved plans from 2005 call for Paramount Park at 700 Biscayne Boulevard. That project was designed by Arquitectonica and included plans for 467 condo units, 120 hotel-condo units, 818 parking spaces and retail.

Chateau, based in Hallandale Beach and led by Manuel Grosskopf, recently completed the Fendi Chateau Residences in Surfside, and is co-developing the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Sunny Isles Beach with Fortune International Group.
